Impact. People. Energy.

The Importance of Clean Energy

The climate crisis is a global concern, mainly caused by increasing greenhouse gas emissions - with energy production from fossil fuels being one of the biggest contributors. As our modern lifestyle relies on a constant supply of electricity for homes, businesses, transportation and industries. The shift to renewable energy sources is essential in addressing this crisis. We believe that solar energy is part of the solution to reducing CO2 emissions globally.

Making a Positive Change Together

We are on a mission to make everyone benefit from solar energy. But we are also on a mission to carry out dedicated ESG work. We are constantly striving to integrate and develop sustainability in all aspects of our business and organisation, including everyday life that shapes Nordic Solar. We welcome all employees of our organisation to take an active part in our ESG work because we strongly believe that, together, we can make a positive impact and change energy in a responsible manner.

Employees Paving the Way

In 2023, we introduced an ESG Employee Advisory Board, on which dedicated employees from every corner of our organisation serve. A voluntary position which provides members with the opportunity to contribute with ideas that will influence Nordic Solar’s sustainability initiatives, paving the way for a positive change.

While solar energy is a clean resource that contributes to a world without fossil fuels, the way we harness this energy is also important. We take responsibility for the impact we have on our own operation as well as on our supply chain - acknowledging the continuous need for improvement.

Working With Biodiversity

We actively participate in the design, development and construction processes of our solar parks, which gives us a unique opportunity to adopt a holistic approach to promoting biodiversity in these parks.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainability is an integrated part of Nordic Solar’s business strategy. We work actively with our ESG impacts, risks and opportunities to reduce adverse impacts and increase positive impacts on the environment, climate, social aspects, and business conduct. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as an overarching framework to give meaning and direction to our sustainability efforts, and we are committed to working both strategically and operationally with our selected SDGs.

At Nordic Solar, we are committed to expanding the provision of solar energy across Europe, thereby contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

However, with the increasing demand for solar energy comes a concurrent need for land to build on. In developing, constructing and operating solar parks, we have an impact on the land and nature which accommodate our parks.

Consequently, we started to design our solar parks with a holistic focus on biodiversity in 2022, as we believe that incorporating small yet significant initiatives in a solar park can have a positive impact on nature and local ecosystems. This also shows our commitment to the objective of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on land.

Life on Land (Goal 15)

At Nordic Solar, we believe that when it comes to sustainability and renewable energy, people are the most important factor. Our team represents a diverse blend of gender, age and nationalities. We believe this is essential to our success and the way we work in Nordic Solar, complementing our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender equality.

We are focused on building a collaborative culture and an inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome and empowered to make a difference. Additionally, in alignment with the objective of the UN Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, we strive to promote responsible business practices that prioritise fair labour practices, decent work for all and contribute to sustainable economic development.

Explore Our Culture

As a value-driven organisation, our values openness, honesty, thoroughness and worklife balance form the foundation for the way we conduct our business to ensure Nordic Solar’s mission: To make everyone benefit from solar energy. These values guide our daily work, while we strive for high standards of integrity, sustainability and responsibility. We aim at securing transparency, thorough documentation and comprehensive risk management across our value chain. In alignment with the objective of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production, we aim to ensure a responsible and sustainable supply chain. Our procurement strategy extends beyond immediate transactions, seeking to generate a positive ripple effect that benefits the broader ecosystem.

We believe that cross-industry challenges are best solved jointly at industry level, both on a national and international level, for the purpose of achieving better working conditions for suppliers and for the industry to be able to meet the critical demand for more renewable energy. We support this by working together with industry associations, GreenPower Denmark and SolarPower Europe, on several issues aiming at improving the industry, for example within human rights due diligence and biodiversity.
